Petals In The Pavement (+ stories about commissions and ariana grande)

Hello! Welcome to my blog. This time I'll show you an artwork with some pale colors in it lol.

Awalnya, artwork ini adalah salah satu opsi yang aku tawarkan ke seorang klien untuk proyeknya beberapa waktu lalu. Waktu itu artwork ini masih berwujud sketsa. Kemudian yang terpilih adalah sketsa yang lain, bukan sketsa yang jadi artwork ini. Keuntungannya, aku jadi punya artwork ekstra untuk portofolioku.

Intentionally, this artwork was one of the options I offered to a client for his project a while ago. This artwork was still a sketch at the time. Then the other sketch was chosen instead of this. The benefit of that situation was I have an extra artwork for my portfolio.

Akhir-akhir ini aku dengerin lagu Ariana Grande "Petal" berulang-ulang. Aku suka playlist heavy rotation jadi aku ga masalah untuk dengerin satu lagu berulang. Waktu aku mulai mengembangkan sketsa artwork ini aku mikir, hey, I can put some scattered petals here. Itu ide yang mengalir begitu aja. Tapi setelah selesai, artwork ini kayak jadi merujuk pada liriknya yang "petal in the pavement." 🌸

Lately I'm listening Ariana Grande's song "petal" on repeat. I always prefer a heavy rotation playlist so I'm okay with repeating only one song. When I started developing the sketch I thought, hey, I can put some scattered petals here. It was a flowing idea. But after it's finished, this artwork is like referring to the lyrics part "petal in the pavement." 🌸

Sebenernya aku ga terlalu sering dengerin lagu-lagu Ariana Grande. Aku cuma casual listener aja. Tapi tahun ini ada dua lagunya yang menarik perhatianku: Hate That I Made You Love Me, dan Petal. Di Petal aku suka dengerin perkusinya. Selagi aku ngetik blog ini lagu itu sedang diputar.

Actually I'm not that often to listen to Ariana Grande's songs. I am just a casual listener. But this year there are already two of her songs that has captivated me: Hate That I Made You Love Me, and Petal. In Petal I love to listen to the percussions. As I'm typing this blog the song is playing.
