Kau jadi jatuh cinta, cinta padaku itu hal wajar!

The title is quoted from JKT48's song Flying Get. Yes, I am a fanatic of them. Since 2013 to be more precise. However, my knowledge about them or 48 Family is veeeeery low that I paused following their development for a few years because of feeling disable to be a 'proper' fan.

I started liking JKT48 when they launched River and started doubting myself around Pareo adalah Emerald or Angin Sedang Berhembus. Wait.... even in Angin Sedang Berhembus era I did not know anything.

It was hard to decide who was my favorite member or oshimen. At first it was a girl with boyish cut, but it was a weak liking. I tried to see the 'faces of JKT48' but there was no special feeling to them except mere respect. Until I found a very tender note on Google Plus written by a member named Beby around 2015. I think it was around Pareo adalah Emerald and I was going to pause. In my pausing time, I still liked to read her notes.

On late 2016, I found my old friend Google Plus and found out that she liked JKT48. It made me restarting to like them again. On April 2017 I went to their concert in my city and met Beby and took a picture together! (It's called 2-Shot and you have to pay a 2-Shot ticket for every picture taken).

This time I tried to make a painting of her based on her self picture on an event in Jakarta. I never did a realist art before (except in my course years ago), so it was very challenging. But I'm not sad with the result, and I know I have to learn more.

It's been a long time since someone asked me to draw them something. This time my university friend, Okta, did it. She asked me to draw a sweet couple being together. As you can see, I drew it directly to a piece of used paper instead of coloring it digitally. The pens I used here are the same pens that I used to draw on the tiny note, Zebra Penciltic.

Not my best attempt though, I hope you can see them stargazing. This is something I created on last September. I had an old set of watercolor paint which I used previously in Last Minutes of Sunday. Early on September, Bebe Rexha's song The Way I Are was always on the radio whenever I tuned in. One night before I went to sleep, the radio played the song again and I thought when laid on my bed in my dark room, "It would be nice to camp with this song on." It was the starting point of the idea.

End of Tiny Note

And that's all thirty pictures in August 2017, along with my favorite songs.

"Ciao adios, I'm done."

Ciao Adios is Anne-Marie's song that is underrated. Those radio stations should play it more since this is a very danceable (is that even a word?) song. And Anne-Marie's voice? Which part of it that made them stopped playing it?

It was hard to me to choose a song to end this tiny-note-drawing, until I remembered this song. To be honest, if I was not living in easy-accessable internet era I will not remember this song at all. That's because the radios stopped playing this song. So, with this song I end the last page with this drawing, and... Ciao Adios, I'm done.

"Half of my heart is in Havana."

As you can see, Havana is Camila Cabello's other song that I featured in this tiny note. I remember listening both Havana and OMG in one music chart that airing throughout Asia radios (bet you know its name).

Havana has its kind of aesthetic. The song mainly tells about a bitter love story (yea I guess it's bitter) but it also hints a positive tourism advertising. Talk about creative economy motion. And by the end of this year we also hear a song titled Panama.

I wonder what will be the next tourism anthem...

"And you are unforgettable."

French Montana's song Unforgettable is a nice music to dance to. And as the title, the song itself is unforgettable. It has this kind of beat and "far" voice that calls us to dance. Moreover, the music video is full with dancing people.

One day on 3 a.m I wanted to listen to this song immediately. When I turned on my favorite radio, they played it! No announcer at that time so the moment I heard the song right at the intro was an extreme destiny to me.

No matter what mood you are in, just listen to it. You will dance.

"But your eyes tell me you won't be there."

Avicii is back! After all those wishes and longing from us, he comes back with new music that suits us very well. Without You sounds like a sad person who is not sad anymore and decides to go on without the burden he used to cling to. Pretty sure he created the song truly with all his heart.

I personally like songs that persuade us to move on, especially with fast rhythm and energetic beats. Without You by Avicii is a good example of them.

"Ladies and gentlemen, here's the exhibit."

I had a moment where I was so in love with Machine Gun Kelly. He has this winning aura. I can see that he is a head-on sanguine man, I think it makes him attractive.

I like MGK's voice in his song At My Best is than in his previous single, Bad Things. His expression is more visible and real in At My Best. It also has a nice music video.

At the first time listening to it, I thought he was Xzibit when I was at the quoted lyric. 😅

"I made my move and it was all about you."

Calvin Harris's My Way has quite of summer dose. This song, along with Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha's song released in 2016 and are my favorite until now. It's simple yet attractive, obviously on the post-chorus part. But instead that part, I put a pinch of its verse as caption of this piece. Does it remind you of some people who was embarrassed by themselves after saying something serious?

There's a bunch of them in mangas. >w<

"I won't trade this for nothing."

Do you like ice cream? I do. It doesn't mean I have to pile them up in my freezer, though. It's still good to taste ice cream from grocery stores or in a fancy ice cream shop. The cold and creamy sensation are what I seek. Ice cream sensation is different from shaved ice sensation.

Like Snakehips's song Don't Leave which features Mo's unique voice, specifically on the lyric I put as this title, it is hard to let ice cream go. Ice cream are made to be tasted in short time. Of course I won't trade it for nothing.

"Magnifying all our flaws."

Ah, this song. I bet everyone knows Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa's song Scared to Be Lonely. The strings, the melody, the powerful voice of Dua Lipa which was unexpected to me, have combined and be the dramatic song of the year.

At some parts I am reminded to Garrix's previous work with Bebe Rexha which was also great and I quoted as caption of my previous doodle. I believe Garrix likes to make powerful upbeat songs, so even though he makes something milder, I can still feel the energy. That's my kind of music.

"Bask in the glory."

Many of people I know dream about reading books in a peaceful park. I agree with them. Park is rare here. I am a bit jealous to see other cities' public park. For example, Bandung. People commonly gather and spend their quality time and, as far as I see, keep clean. We absolutely need more parks here.

As a person who likes to take morning speedwalk twice or thrice a week, I will have an alternative route at that park if they build one. Or maybe I would go there only to read a book, or sketch, or paint, or just eat a bun. A little glory to glorify your day. As Julia Michaels sang in her song Issues.

I know the whole song is not correlated with this piece.

"I can't quit you."

Cashmere Cat's Quit has a captivating melody. I never be a fan of Ariana Grande, but I can say that her voice fits this song perfectly. Is it a kind of voice Cashmere Cat likes? And its lyrics video makes me want to do a short trip by train alone. Which doesn't happen yet. Instead, what happened was this doodle, which I don't know why it turned out to be Christmas-themed like this. I just tried to combine green and orange....

"We breathe in the air of this small town."

Who doesn't know The Chainsmokers? They came like a missile, you know. Their song Paris is usually not my cup of tea. Nevertheless, the song is quite enjoyable and is a sweet escape to take a break from those fast-paced, energy-draining songs. I think they really put their heart while making it because the song tells us about escaping.

The interesting point is, at the starting of its lyrics video, they explain the meaning of Paris they refer to. It means something dreamy and imaginative. Well, imagination is our shortest way to escape, I say.

"You said that I'm paranoid."

One of most fenomenal songs in 2017 is Heavy by Linkin Park. I know Linkin Park since I was much, much younger. There was a time where people really like rock band like them. I personally like the combination of high-pitched voice, rap, and their dark lyrics. Some of my favorite songs are Numb, Crawling, Breaking the Habit, and I also like Leave Out All the Rest.

As other songs I took the lyrics from, Heavy inspires me to draw something. It feels good to be inspired, right?

"Funny my name keeps comin' out your mouth."

Katy Perry's "Swish, Swish" is ear-catching. Plus Nicki Minaj's rap ability, this song has its own dark power. Even so, I draw this guy to distract some point of view in reading the lyrics I put as the caption.

He looks like listening to a love song.

What if, "Funny my name keeps comin' out your mouth," because you are liking me?

"Replace the poison that you left onto my mind."

Do you know what song I quote here? It's from Afrojack and David Guetta's song "Another Life". I heard it first on my favorite radio as what they call Bubbling Up Song, and I fell in love at the first listening.

Then I headed to Youtube to watch its music video. The animation is ssssssick! It's beautiful, and for those learning how to draw human anatomy, watch!

I like it when a good song meets good video.

"I'll take with me the Polaroid and the memories."

How can a brand of camera be an icon of melancholy romance in 2017? Yeah, that's what happened. If I ever had a Polaroid, maybe I would take pictures of wild grass and flowers, and pin them on a string or stick them in a scrapbook.

I'm not that romantic, though...

Anyway, this line I put at the caption is taken from Kygo's song "It Ain't Me" which features Selena Gomez. The sound of the accoustic guitar is mesmerizing. I also like the part of distorted lyrics. Kygo packs a song of separating couple in a polite way, as if separation is beautiful.

"You know I'm back like I never left."

I like Macklemore's song "Glorious". It has that beat and that atmosphere. Also it has a powerful music video. Skylar Grey's voice fits well, too.

As glory as the song, I draw a royal family member walking into a hall. Even though the hall is empty, he makes sure that whoever sees him outside will be obviously shocked. I'm pretty sure many people has this kind of moment once or twice in their lives.

Treasure it.

Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Big Sean - Feels

Radio announcers would have difficulties in saying those names while running out of intros. 😆

"Feels" is my second long lasting favorite song this year after "2U". I like songs that resonate with my soul. Well, who doesn't?

Don't be afraid to catch feels.

"My God, you look good today."

Camila Cabello's "OMG" is addictive! I'm often afraid if I have overplayed it. As you know, since internet became faster and easy to access, overplaying a song is common nowadays. I have experienced that phase and I don't want to repeat it.

"OMG" is perfect for alpha people, by the way. That's what I think while drawing this. 😎

"Wi, wi, wild thoughts."

This time I'm using DJ Khaled's song "Wild Thoughts" featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. The song, despite of its title, giving a full chillax mood to me. You should listen to its bass and guitar; maybe you need a few drops of soda in your champagne coupe as well.

Saturday, October 14, 2017

"And now your song is on repeat and I'm dancing on to your heartbeat."

Symphony is a very moving song to me. Clean Bandit is good with orchestra-meets-EDM and Zara Larsson has the beautiful voice that matches finely with the music. I think Clean Bandit is clever in choosing their collaboration partner. 🙆

In drawing this piece, I imagine a mild hype situation. August is when summer songs airing everywhere so it is easy to be affected by them. I'm not sure if Symphony is your summer song, but it's still reasonable to make it one.

I just wanna be part of your symphony!

"If I told you we could bathe in all the lights, would you rise up, come and meet me in the sky?"

Phew! Finally I got time to get in to this blog again. My week was really crammed with my activities. Working in office by day, teaching privately by evening, working for our client on Saturday and Sunday, even working for our client in another town, plus working overtime on last Saturday! Now my lower-right back hurts...

Let's jump to this piece. Firstly, I have a story of the paper. The tiny note contains 30 sheets of papers. I've used the first sheet to write something unrelated with art. It is before "2U" sheet. Since I used the third or fourth page, I realized that I need to remove that first page and replace it with new one and it didn't have to be in the same position. This is the new sheet.

Secondly, about the song. You might know that the song is not that new. It is Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha's "In The Name Of Love" which is released a year ago. I like the song so much that I think it is 2017-released song. 😅 At least it is still on my favorite 2017 songs hee hee...

I'll show more next time!

"Save the talk for the ones who don't know no better."

Major Lazer creates enjoyable songs from time to time. This time I fall in love with Know No Better which involves Travis Scott, Quavo and Camila Cabello as the vocals. At first I thought Anne Marie was the female vocal since the voice reminded me of hers in Rockabye.

Between its lyric video and music video, I choose the lyric video. It has more energy and has an intensified pressure at the words 'Know No Better'. Moreover they took places around the world just to complete the entire scenes! It makes me want to label myself as the one who know no better.

"Save the talk for the ones who don't know no better."

"Managing my expectation is what I never do."

The Vamps song Middle of the Night has an interesting music video which involves people using sign language. Unusual and beautiful at the same time. 🎥🎭

As simple as enjoying the song, I draw a young man contemplating while sitting on a bench. Well, contemplating is something you do in every breakup song, right? Hahah.

I'll show more from this tiny note!

Last minutes of Sunday

When was the last time I use watercolor? I can't even remember. I never had a formal edu of art, except if you want to state that having a private art tutor is considered a formal one. We liked to sketch a lot, and painting was sometimes done too, but it wasn't that much since I always asked her to let me sketch. ✏✒

This was what I did on a Sunday evening: watercoloring. I used a set of cheap paint and a mini sketchbook I bought at a bazaar. If I had to put a title on this one, it would be First Attempt because it felt like I started at zero level hahahahah...

It's surprising that I enjoy it much than I expect. Next time I'll make more paintings.

Miley Cyrus - Malibu

To me, Miley Cyrus's Malibu is easy to get me... starstrucked? ... starstruck? I found a good drama in the lyrics; a drama of opened eyes, thankfulness, grace. I'm not a big fan of beaches or mountains, so somehow the lyrics give me a certain point of view about outdoor tourism.

This tiny note should contain my drawings and my favorite songs at the moment (in this case, my favorite songs from early until mid 2017). Mostly I make the drawings a bit far from the song interpretations. Well, it turns out differently on this one, which the drawing is actually loosely inspired by the music video.

Wait, I did it too in Fetish.

Orange is obvipusly good here. By the calm ocean and mild wave, I hope you can interpret it as a scene on a late afternoon and/or at golden hour.

Do you prefer indoor or outdoor sites?

"Suddenly the sun goes up..."

I'm aware that I rarely draw a male as my main character. Along with James Arthur's deep masculine voice I can draw this man along with what I hope would be his aesthetic surroundings (top frame, falling leaves, blank background...).

Rudimental's song "Sun Comes Up" featuring James Arthur was the song I listened while drawing this. The melody of the song is actually more relaxing than persuading anyone to move on from their bad memories. That's what I think. Eventhough, I still like the EDM/finished version more than the accoustic one.

I'll show the other from this tiny note!

"Friday night my phone is off..."

Until I made this piece, I didn't intend to make a musical-themed doodles on this tiny note. So you can call it a spontaneous project.

The note contains 30 sheets, all in crown shape same as front and back cover. I thought it would be fun to create simple drawings and give a line or two of any lyrics as their caption. And the songs have to be my likings since early until mid 2017. And it would be a bit challenging to make them all in August 2017.

On this art, I use the first line of song All My Love by Cash Cash and Connor Maynard as my inspiration and caption. It's a very catchy song, very my type. Oh, and I made this before I put my phone at the repairment.

I wanted to make a girl, but it turns out a bit androgynous... 😅

I'll show more from this note!

Okay, people. I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of annual music event We The Fest. I, honestly, just heard of it this year on last June on the radio. While I have been familiar with Djakarta Warehouse Project, We The Fest is rather new to me even I thought it just started this year. Of course it's not. In fact, the event started on 2014.

I was trying to arrange my short trip to Jakarta to visit this EDM festival. I thought I could go on Friday night by train, stay at my friend's dorm, see the event on Saturday then I would go home on Sunday. All sounds good until I check the ticket price. 😵

That's okay, that means I have to save some cash to go to their next event, right?

Well, somehow We The Fest affects me so much that I make this swimming guy on my tiny note. It is almost spontaneous and I like the result. 🐟🐟🐟

Song played: Selena Gomez feat. Gucci Mane - Fetish, Linkin Park - In The End

Selena Gomez's song Fetish is good! I am not a big fan of her but I like her voice, like when she sings Can't Keep My Hands To Myself. The character here is loosely inspired by Fetish music video, where Selena throws all her grocery bags and sits on the floor. Honestly I like her previous video of the same song which only shows her lips. It suits more with the title hahah..

Right after Fetish played on the radio, In The End played. It gives me other classic emo feeling and it affects this doodle. See that striped shirt? Yes, it's the affected part.

I'll show more of my doodle in this tiny note!

"I'm running, running, just to keep my hands on you."

After I couldn't use my notebook as usual, I tend to cling on my phone to go online. Unfortunately, on 15 August I had to leave it at the service centre for some repairment on its power button. Guess I have bad hands on gadgets... 😢

Martin Garrix's song There For You is a kind of song that grows in me. It's not that catchy at first, and later it changes to a very addictive song. When I was listening to it on radio, I drew this. Can you guess which part was the first I draw? That headphone! Precisely, starting from the crown-like part. It would be cool to have that kind of headphone. 😎

You'll see more of my doodles on this tiny note. Be prepared!

Backsound: David Guetta feat. Justin Bieber - 2U

I know I've been silent in months and I miss telling stories here. Maybe some of you noticed that I almost never upload a "fancy" work again here, and maybe some of you knew what the reason was.

I thought I could just upload these plain doodles on my social medias, then I realized that there was no way I abandon my blog. This blog has been roaming since years ago. After all, this is an art blog. 😋

So, until I can upload the fancy ones, I'll keep filling this blog with my work in other form.

Secret Prayer

We are facing the end of Ramadan! As we are approaching the victory day, let's hope we will get a good score for our prayers and deeds. Amen.

Secret Prayer was actually made by the end of 2016, when I started complaining my laptop's failure. (Okay I'm not going to bring it up again). It was intended to be in richer pink, but when I tried applying it, that kind of pink lessen the romantic and melancholy sense of this piece. Moreover, the floating petals became invisible.

I did not expected to finish and upload it on Ramadan, though. But I guess it is destiny to have my work unfinished back then.

What is your secret prayer?

Hi! Bet it's been a long time since I edited my last artwork and upload it here. This time I have done an artwork, or a single cover for my university club classmate Urip Widodo a.k.a Wiwid. Humaku, as you read, is the title of his single collaborated with his friend. You can listen to it here. I want to have a long and lost trip to an unknown rice field after listening to it.

I got the concept when I was at my favorite cafe. I never trusted coffee's magic, though, but I sketched down the concept while sipping my favorite cafe mocha. Maybe it's cafe-mocha's magic?

The coloring was quite easy. Because the song is simple and 'clean', I want the cover be like it too. My favorite part is the sky. Wait, it's not beacuse I don't have anything in it; it's because the cloudless sky is the first thing I got in mind when concepting this piece.

I hope you enjoy Humaku!

Brick Wall

Hi guys! Oh, it was a hectic month on early 2017! I'm glad to be back here and post something. This time I post something similar with previous post; a piece directly from pen with high manuality in the process. Manually digital...?

This piece was pretty easy since I didn't have to draw any limb. I just had to be careful when it came to coloring. I wanted to make it had a sense of autumn (even though I had never experience autumn for real), so I chose green and orange as the main notes. The rest was easy.

Dark red is never wrong, it is almost like the flexible black in your clothes. That was my reason to put it onto the shirt. As for the scarf, I wanted to make it as attractive as possible so I picked that light blue. It was quite opposing the rest colors. I was really enjoying the coloring process.
