Hello from the other side!
Today I want to show you this artwork, a girl with a sword in one hand and a bouquet in the other. I originally wanted to practice foreshortening... which I don't know if it's successful or not. Also, this artwork was more of a warm-up illustration. Since I liked how the colors turned out, I decided to show it.
I am never confident with foreshortening. I always avoid it in my artworks and always do it secretly as a doodle or a rough sketch that I'd never show. Even in real life, when I observe people's arms or legs positioned in a foreshortening perspective, I always think, "That would be weird if I draw it." Of course, I know it's because I lack practice. Aaaand my bad trait is thinking that this is only a hobby. 🤷 Nevertheless, even though it's a mere hobby, I still pour my heart into creating my artworks.
The Left-Handed Swordswoman with a Bouquet is a lighthearted artwork, and I love it. The juxtaposition of the sword and the bouquet symbolizes strength and beauty, fierceness and gentleness. It’s a reminder that we can be multifaceted, embracing both our tough and tender sides. The vibrant colors add to the whimsical feel of the piece, making it stand out as one of my personal favorites.
Working on this piece was both a challenge and a joy. The challenge was primarily in the foreshortening—getting the proportions right and making the perspective look natural. It's an area I still need to improve, but I'm glad I took the risk. The joy came from seeing the piece come to life, especially the way the colors blended together and brought out the character's personality.
I will share more artworks and any other creations I make in the future. Today I avoid foreshortening, maybe next week I will love it. Who knows? This journey of learning and improving is what keeps art exciting for me. Every piece is a step forward, no matter how small.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your support and feedback mean a lot, and they encourage me to keep experimenting and growing as an artist. Stay tuned for more creations and updates.
